Plot

An agnostic sex podcaster and a newly minted rabbi fall in love and figure out if their relationship will survive their very different lives and meddling families. The series was originally called “Shiksa,” which is also the last word of the first episode. I just binge-watched the series. Really funny and captures a lot of the essence of Jewish family life. Cleverly done, with great characters and acting. Kristen Bell, Adam Brody, and the other main characters were great, especially Noah’s mother (the typical Jewish matriarch), Joanne’s sister, Noah’s brother Sacha, and Sacha’s wife. I really hope there’s a second season to further explore Joanne and Noah’s relationship and see what the future holds for both of them personally and professionally. I feel there’s room for character development with Joanne’s parents, especially when it comes to their relationship with her father.
